What We Hold, and What We Don't

Who we are

Nuviel is an independent educational publisher based in Lahore, Pakistan. For questions about this policy or your data, write to connect@nuviel.co. A real person reads it.

What we collect, and when

When you download a free resource or join a list

Your name (if you give it) and your email address. Nothing else is required.

When you write to us through a form

Whatever you choose to put in the message, along with your name and email so we can reply. For organisation enquiries, your organisation's name.

When you simply read the site

Standard technical information that any website receives — your browser type, approximate region, and which pages you opened. This is not linked to your name. We measure this with Plausible, which works without cookies.

When you book a Guide Session or a group circle

Sessions are different from reading the site, and we ask for more before we begin.

To arrange the session: your full name, your age (sessions are for adults, 18 and over), your city and country, your email, and your phone number if you choose to give it.

So that someone can be reached if something goes badly wrong: the name and phone number of one emergency contact. We use it only in a genuine emergency. Never for anything else.

So we can tell you honestly whether a Guide Session is the right room for you: a short set of questions about where you are right now — whether you are currently seeing a psychiatrist, psychologist or therapist; whether you are taking medication prescribed for your mental health (you never have to name it); whether you have been hospitalised for a mental-health reason in the past twelve months; whether you have had thoughts of harming yourself in the past month; and whether you have experienced things others around you did not.

During a session: your guide keeps brief notes — what was discussed and what was agreed, nothing more. They are stored securely and are never sold or shared for any commercial purpose.

What we do not do with any of it

We do not diagnose. We do not build clinical records. We do not share what you tell us with your employer, your family, or anyone else — with the honest exceptions set out below.

The limits of confidentiality

What you share in a session stays between you and your guide, with two exceptions we would rather name now than surprise you with later:

• where we believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or to another person;
• where disclosure is required by law or by a court.

If either happens, we handle it with as much care as the law and conscience allow, and wherever possible we tell you what we are doing and why. These same limits apply to anything disclosed in an email, a form, or a message — not only in a session.

Why we hold it

• To send you the resource you asked for.
• To reply to you.
• To arrange, deliver and follow up a session you booked.
• To decide honestly whether a Guide Session is right for you, and to refer you onward when it is not.
• To send occasional letters, if you agreed to those. You can stop them in one click, in any email.
• To understand, in aggregate, which writing is useful — how many people read something, not who.

We do not build profiles. We do not score, segment by inferred vulnerability, or target anyone based on what they seem to be struggling with. Nothing you tell us in an intake form is ever used to market anything to you.

Research, surveys and statistics

One day we would like to publish what we learn — how many people found a resource useful, which weights come up most often, what shifts across a cohort. That work is worth doing only if it never costs you your privacy. So here is the line, drawn before we need it.

Aggregate figures, always without names. Counts, percentages and patterns, with nothing that could identify you or be traced back to you.

If we ever want to do something with your data that this page does not describe, we will ask you first, and a “no” will cost you nothing.

Who else touches your data

Running a website and delivering sessions means using services. These are ours, and this is all of them:

They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.

The people behind Nuviel. Nuviel is currently written and run by its founder. Anyone who joins — helping run the site, the mailing list, or the inbox — will be bound in writing to the confidentiality set out on this page, and will see only what their work requires. Intake forms and session notes will stay with your guide, bound by the same terms and the same limits.

About the AI assistant, specifically. We use it to keep the site working and to help draft correspondence. A human reads and sends every reply. Our conversations with it are not used to train AI models. Intake forms, session notes, and anything you disclose in confidence are never given to it.

We never sell your data. We have never done it and there is no arrangement under which we would.

Data leaving Pakistan

Our providers store data outside Pakistan, mainly in the European Union and the United States. If you are in the UK or the EU, your data is transferred under the safeguards those providers maintain — standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

How long we keep it

• Subscriber details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and for a short period afterwards so we do not accidentally email you again.
• Form messages: 24 months from the date you wrote to us, then deleted.
• Intake forms and session notes: 3 years after your last session, then deleted.
• Crisis-referral notes: 7 years from the date of the referral, because they may be needed to show we acted properly.
• Aggregate traffic figures: kept without anything identifying you.

If you ask us to delete any of this sooner, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you;
• correct anything wrong;
• delete it — and we will, unless the law requires us to keep something;
• send you a copy in a portable form;
• stop using it for a particular purpose;
• withdraw consent at any time, which is what the unsubscribe link does, and what a message to us does for your intake information.

Write to connect@nuviel.co. We will answer within 30 days and there is no charge. If you are in the UK or the EU and we have not resolved something, you may complain to your national data protection authority.

Cookies

There is no advertising on this site and no ad network following you around the web.

Opening a page here sets one cookie. It is placed by our host's security layer so it can tell apart people sharing an internet connection, it lasts until you close your browser, and it holds nothing about you. That is the only thing stored when you read.

Our signup forms are provided by MailerLite, and its form script may store a small amount of data in your browser so the form works. Our page-view measurement sets no cookie at all.

If we later add a tool that sets tracking cookies, you will be asked before any non-essential cookie is placed, and you may decline without losing access to anything here.

Children

Nuviel is written for adults, and sessions are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page and date it. We will not quietly widen what we do with your data.

In plain terms

Your details are never sold. They are shared only with the services that run this site and deliver what you asked for. You can ask us to delete them at any time, and we will.

Privacy is part of the sanctuary.
